How to Use Vertical Video

Who’s doing vertical video?

*raises hand*

Fun fact, to make your eyes a bit wider than they already are…ninety-four percent of people view their content vertically. So it’s time to start building up and going vertical. Here’s some helpful tools to help kickstart your vertical content.

Step 1: First, plan on what you want to shoot beforehand.

Social platforms are jumping on the bandwagon and extremely accommodating to vertical content. Be sure to check out how each of them work before you decide what style of video you want to do. For instance, Instagram has 15 second stories but 60 second posts as well as IGTV series options. Knowing these parameters will help you develop the content that you want to create the right way.

Step 2: Use wireframe or turn camera sideways

Make sure you update your editing software to have your timeline option for 9x16 aspect ratios rather than 16x9.

Step 3: Look at all this new space!

Get creative with the new space you get to play with.

Step 4: Don’t forget about graphics

Graphics and vertical are like peas and carrots. The sky is the limit to what you can do and how you can stop someone’s thumb with killer graphic text.

Step 5: Think about a series

Many of our new social platforms are encouraging series content. If you want to stand out from the crowd, think about making your series vertical. Not only will it be easy to view on mobile but it will keep your viewers from scrolling away earlier.

Use these five steps and start creating vertical content that will take your business to the next level!
